The Temporary Skill Shortage (Subclass 482) visa, also known as the TSS visa, is a temporary work visa for skilled workers who are sponsored by an Australian employer to fill a shortage of skilled workers in Australia. The visa allows the holder to live and work in Australia for up to four years, with the possibility of renewal.
To be eligible for the Temporary Skill Shortage (Subclass 482) visa, applicants must:
Have a suitable occupation on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL).
Meet the required points score on the Points Test, based on factors such as age, English language ability, education, and work experience.
Obtain a positive skill assessment in their nominated occupation.
Meet the English language requirements.
Be sponsored by an Australian employer who is willing to offer them a temporary position in their nominated occupation.
Holders of the Temporary Skill Shortage (Subclass 482) visa may bring eligible family members with them to Australia. After holding the visa for three years, certain holders may be eligible to apply for a permanent residency visa through the Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186) or the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (Subclass 187).
