A Canadian study permit is necessary to study in Canada for foreign students who are not citizens or residents of Canada. It enables students to pursue their education at designated learning institutions i-e colleges & universities.

Application Process Time

Depending on the circumstances of the case, it may take some time to get your Canadian Study Permit. The application process can take two weeks to sixteen weeks.
The amount of time required to receive a study permit depends on the volume of applicants, the location, and the type of the application.
You will be sent an official letter along with your decision. This typically takes six weeks if the procedure is still the same. Additional six weeks may be required if more information is needed.

Cases to Extend Your Study Permit

If you plan to continue your studies, you must renew your study permit. You must apply to extend your permit at least 30 days before your visa expires. Ensure that your passport does not expire at same time. Your study permit cannot be extended after the passport expiry date.
You can continue to live in Canada under the same conditions as your existing study permit until you receive a decision if you apply before your permit expires.
If you plan to travel outside Canada and your permit will expire while travelling, you should apply to extend it. You must leave Canada if your study permit expires and you have yet to apply for a renewal.
